Racing Incident Report
On entering the track, Apprentice C W Wong was dislodged from TRIUMPH which became fractious. FIRST KNIGHT and SOLDIER ON were slow to begin. On jumping, GALAXY DANCER was bumped by TIRAMISU which shifted in. After this, GALAXY DANCER was taken across behind runners. Shortly after the start, SOLDIER ON was steadied when crowded for room inside KEEN SOUL which shifted in. Passing the 1000 Metres, BRAVE COMMANDER was steadied away from the heels of LIMONCELLO which shifted in when barely clear. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, TRIUMPH and CHATER DE LAGO were hampered and carried wider by LIMONCELLO which when being steadied away from the heels of SIMPLY JOY got its head up and shifted out. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, GALAXY DANCER hung out. After the 800 Metres, TRIUMPH was left racing wide and without cover. At the 700 Metres, FIRST KNIGHT became unbalanced after being bumped when racing awkwardly between CHATER DE LAGO and BRAVE COMMANDER. In this incident, some inconvenience was also caused to BRAVE COMMANDER. In the early part of the Straight, GALAXY DANCER had some difficulty obtaining clear running. Over the concluding stages, LIMONCELLO shifted in away from FIRST KNIGHT which itself shifted ground. M Nunes (TIRAMISU) said his mount travelled further back than anticipated and despite being under pressure at the 600 Metres failed to close the race off. He said previous performances of TIRAMISU indicate the horse may be best suited when drawn an inside gate where it is able to obtain a position on the fence. He said when racing away from the fence TIRAMISU is inclined to hang in. Apprentice K L Chui (BRAVE COMMANDER) explained the intention had been to have the horse ridden in a forward position as is usual. He said the horse began awkwardly and despite riding his mount along in the early stages the horse got further back than anticipated and then received further inconvenience which caused him to lose more ground. He said in the Straight BRAVE COMMANDER failed to respond to his riding. BRAVE COMMANDER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. HAPPY MASTER, CHATER DE LAGO and TIRAMISU were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BRAVE COMMANDER, HAPPY MASTER, CHATER DE LAGO and TIRAMISU after the race did not show any significant findings. FIRST KNIGHT and SOLDIER ON were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 26 March 2007)
TIRAMISU, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. TIRAMISU was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a stiff and restricted action with a swollen right front fetlock. Before being allowed to race again, TIRAMISU will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
