Racing Incident Report

SYDNEY OWNER was slow to begin. HE CAN TANGO, with the intention of being ridden quietly, got its head up at the start. Shortly after the start, GOOD TO GO became unbalanced and lost ground when crowded for room between LUCKY FRUIT and VIKING TOR which was carried in by OCTABILITY which shifted in after being bumped by CLASSA SUPREME. Passing the 1200 Metres, CONTICASTA was steadied away from the heels of CALIFORNIA HEART which shifted in when barely clear. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, CONTICASTA was checked when crowded for room by LUCKY FRUIT which when hanging shifted in away from GOOD TO GO despite the efforts of its rider. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Shortly after this, LUCKY FRUIT was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of GOOD TO GO. At the 100 Metres, CONTICASTA, which was closing the race off strongly, was shifted to the outside into clear running. After the 100 Metres, LUCKY FRUIT was awkwardly placed behind RAINBOW OASIS which was commencing to give ground. In the Home Straight, HE CAN TANGO hung in and proved difficult to ride. From a wide barrier, SUPER FIGHTER travelled wide and without cover. GOOD TO GO was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOOD TO GO after the race did not show any significant findings. HE CAN TANGO, VIKING TOR and CLASSA SUPREME were sent for sampling. After the race, C Williams, the rider of OCTABILITY, reported the horse had made an abnormal breathing noise. OCTABILITY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings.
