Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, BIG WINNER, which kicked out and made contact with a running rail on the way to the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. SUNRISE STRIKER began awkwardly. SABRE AND GOLD and BIG WINNER were slow to begin. On jumping, TELECOM TYCOON blundered badly. Also on jumping, EVER KING and A PLUS FIT bumped. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, A PLUS FIT failed to muster speed. Near the 1400 Metres, JOY AND TREASURE, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of EVER KING. On straightening, COULDN'T CARE LESS was shifted to the outside of SABRE AND GOLD in an endeavour to go forward, then for some distance passing the 300 Metres was held up and unable to obtain clear running. From on straightening until the 250 Metres, SABRE AND GOLD was held up and unable to obtain clear running. From on straightening until after the 200 Metres, TELECOM TYCOON was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Near the 300 Metres, SUPER BONUS was steadied when crowded for room between COULDN'T CARE LESS and A PLUS FIT which shifted in. At the 250 Metres, SABRE AND GOLD was checked when disappointed for running between COULDN'T CARE LESS and BIG WINNER (Apprentice K W Tsui) which shifted out when not properly clear. In the circumstances, Apprentice Tsui was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care. At the 150 Metres, SABRE AND GOLD was steadied and shifted to the inside of BIG WINNER to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, DOLPHIN STAR travelled wide and without cover. When being eased down following the race, Apprentice K W Tsui was dislodged from BIG WINNER. Apprentice Tsui was examined by the Club's doctor who said he was fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. Apprentice C W Wong (SHOW BRAVELY) explained he was instructed to allow the horse to travel where it was comfortable and it was hoped this would be in a forward position. He said SHOW BRAVELY began well, he rode along for a short distance which enabled SHOW BRAVELY to travel comfortably behind the leaders. TELECOM TYCOON and A PLUS FIT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TELECOM TYCOON and A PLUS FIT after the race did not show any significant findings. SABRE AND GOLD, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS and DOLPHIN STAR were sent for sampling.
