Racing Incident Report
MERIDIAN PRIDE and BULLDOZER were slow into stride. Shortly after the start, BRAVE KNIGHT lost ground when crowded for room between SIAMERIC TE SPECSO and BEAR MACHO which on jumping got its head up and shifted in. From the outside barrier, with the intention of being ridden quietly, SALUT BEAUTE was taken back in the early stages. At the 900 Metres, BEAR MACHO became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of HORACE'S CHOICE. Apprentice K W Tsui (MR COOL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BULLDOZER, resulting in that horse being carried in across the rightful running of THE WORLD OF LOVE, causing that horse to be checked. In the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for Apprentice Tsui's licence to ride in races be suspended for a period to expire on Thursday 22 March 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Saturday 10 March 2007. After the 600 Metres, BULLDOZER was crowded for room inside MR COOL which at this time pulled its way forward into an awkward position inside the heels of BEAR MACHO. Shortly after this, MR COOL was checked away from the heels of BEAR MACHO. On straightening, MERIDIAN PRIDE was bumped by SALUT BEAUTE which shifted out. Approaching the 200 Metres, SIAMERIC TE SPECSO had some difficulty obtaining clear running between WEALTHY TREASURE and HORACE'S CHOICE. After the 200 Metres, JOLLY GOOD FORTUNE was bumped by GLORY YEARS which shifted in after being brushed by HORACE'S CHOICE. SIAMERIC TE SPECSO and BRAVE KNIGHT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SIAMERIC TE SPECSO and BRAVE KNIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. BEAR MACHO and GLORY YEARS were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 8 March 2007)
SIAMERIC TE SPECSO, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SIAMERIC TE SPECSO was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Hall this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SIAMERIC TE SPECSO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
