Racing Incident Report

Prior to being taken to the saddling stalls, it was noted WINNING SUCCESS had lost its right front plate. This plate was reset. WINNING SUCCESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, A Delpech expressed concern over the action of BRAMBLE BLITZ. BRAMBLE BLITZ was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. SANZIRO and BRAMBLE BLITZ were slow to begin. WINNING SUCCESS was slow into stride. MUTE began awkwardly. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, SPECIAL KING PRAWN was checked to avoid the heels of YELLOW DIAMOND which at this time was carried in and steadied away from the heels of FRIENDLY GAINS which shifted ground while hanging. In the circumstances, no action was taken. At the 700 Metres, YELLOW DIAMOND was steadied away from the heels of WIN AGAIN which at this time came back and shifted in to a position behind FLY HIGH. WINNING SUCCESS made the turn near the 600 Metres awkwardly and was steadied away from the heels of YELLOW DIAMOND. WINNING SUCCESS continued to race awkwardly until after entering the Home Straight. After the 200 Metres, FRIENDLY GAINS shifted out and bumped EASY. Over the concluding stages, EASY hung in. Y T Cheng (EASY) was fined $5,000 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post which continued on for some distance after the winning post at which time his mount shifted in when not clear of FRIENDLY GAINS, causing that horse to be checked. WINNING SUCCESS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of WINNING SUCCESS after the race did not show any significant findings. EASY and FRIENDLY GAINS were sent for sampling.
