Racing Incident Report
SUNNY RIVIERA was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, CRUSADER OF GOLD was crowded for room between SPEED OF LIGHT and WAIT FOR ME which began awkwardly, blundered and then shifted in away from PERFECT TIME. Also shortly after the start, FEBURO was steadied when crowded for room between CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE and CENTENNIAL SMILE which on jumping shifted out. At the 1100 Metres, PREFECT TIME was steadied away from the heels of RIVER TANGO which at this time shifted out from behind ARISTOCRACY. After the 800 Metres, WAIT FOR ME shifted to a three wide position away from the heels of SPEED OF LIGHT which at this time was momentarily steadied away from the heels of RIVER TANGO. As a result of this, WAIT FOR ME travelled without cover. Also after the 800 Metres, CENTENNIAL SMILE was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SPEED OF LIGHT. On straightening, FEBURO was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of SUNNY RIVIERA which at this time was shifting out in an endeavour to find clear running. For some distance after straightening, CRUSADER OF GOLD had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 300 Metres, CENTENNIAL SMILE was steadied away from the heels of PERFECT TIME. M Nunes (SUNNY RIVIERA) said the horse had recently been racing over distances of longer than the 1600 Metres of today's race. He said when SUNNY RIVIERA was successful at its last start it was ridden in a similar manner as today, however, on that occasion the horse quickened when asked for an effort after straightening. He said today SUNNY RIVIERA travelled comfortably at the rear, however, in the Straight responded only fairly to his riding. He said in his opinion SUNNY RIVIERA is better suited when racing over longer distances. SUNNY RIVIERA and WAIT FOR ME were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUNNY RIVIERA and WAIT FOR ME after the race did not show any significant findings. SOUTH BREEZE, CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE and CRUSADER OF GOLD were sent for sampling.
