Racing Incident Report

GOOD TRIO was slow to begin. From wide barriers, BALL OF FIRE and DR HAENSLER were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Shortly after the start, A-TACK, FASTER FASTER and DANCING FAITH were crowded for room inside WONDERFUL WORLD which momentarily shifted in. A-TACK made the turn near the 1000 Metres awkwardly, got its head up and was checked to avoid the heels of FASTER FASTER which was carried in by DANCING FAITH which in turn was carried in by WONDERFUL WORLD (Apprentice K T Yeung). In the circumstances, Apprentice Yeung was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, FASTER FASTER shifted out, bumped STAR PRODIGY and as a consequence lost ground. When FASTER FASTER lost ground, A-TACK which was following was checked to avoid the heels of that horse. After this, FASTER FASTER continued to hang out and give ground until after straightening. Near the 400 Metres, DR HAENSLER was bumped by FASTER FASTER which shifted ground. Near the 200 Metres, BALL OF FIRE, which was closing the race off, was hampered and carried wider by WONDERFUL WORLD which shifted out. Whilst the Stewards accepted Apprentice Yeung had stopped riding and straightened his mount, he nonetheless was reprimanded and told he should take corrective action sooner than he did on this occasion. At the 150 Metres, JET RISE was brushed by SPY KING which improved into narrow running on its inside. Over the concluding stages, BALL OF FIRE hung in and close to the line caused some crowding to GOOD TRIO on its inside. FASTER FASTER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, FASTER FASTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. SPY KING and JET RISE were sent for sampling.
