Racing Incident Report
On jumping, ALL CHANCES got its head up and lost ground. MERIDIAN PRIDE began awkwardly and was steadied away from the heels of BOBO WIN. RIVER JORDAN began awkwardly. After the 1500 Metres, GRAND CRU was steadied away from the heels of RICE FIELD. In the early stages, JIANG JUN proved difficult to settle. At the 800 Metres, SUPREME GAINS was steadied when awkwardly placed between CHIMERA and RIVER JORDAN which at this time was carried out slightly by FULL OF JOY. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, ALL CHANCES hung out. At the 700 Metres, JIANG JUN was steadied away from the heels of RIVER JORDAN. Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, JIANG JUN was held up and unable to obtain clear running. For some distance after the 400 Metres, FULL OF JOY was held up and unable to improve between MERIDIAN PRIDE an RICE FIELD. From shortly after entering the Home Straight until the 200 Metres, GO JOHNNY GO was held up and unable to obtain clear running between BOBO WIN and MERIDIAN PRIDE. Throughout the race, CITY OF TROY and CHIMERA travelled wide and without cover. The performances of CITY OF TROY and CHIMERA, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CITY OF TROY and CHIMERA will both have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. D Whyte (SUPREME GAINS) said at no stage of the race did the horse feel comfortable in its action. He said he had to make some use of SUPREME GAINS to hold his position after the 800 Metres, however, in the Straight the horse did not respond to his riding. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME GAINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. O Doleuze (CLEAN SWEEP) said the intention had been to ride the horse in a forward position, however, in the early stages CLEAN SWEEP did not stride out and as a consequence got much further back than anticipated. He said at no stage of the race did CLEAN SWEEP travel as he thought it should. G Mossé (GO JOHNNY GO) explained after obtaining clear running at the 200 Metres he rode his mount out hands and heels, however, he felt the horse could not figure in the finish at that point, therefore he did not ride his mount out fully. G Mossé was told he must ensure horses ridden by him are properly tested where circumstances permit. SUPREME GAINS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. CLEAN SWEEP, CITY OF TROY, GO JOHNNY GO and CHIMERA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPREME GAINS, CITY OF TROY and GO JOHNNY GO after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, CLEAN SWEEP was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse has an intermittent displacement of the soft palate. Also after the race, CHIMERA was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. RIVER JORDAN and FULL OF JOY were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 5 February 2007)
CLEAN SWEEP, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time he noted the horse to have an intermittent displacement of the soft palate. CLEAN SWEEP was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer J Size this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being permitted to race again, CLEAN SWEEP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
