Racing Incident Report
Whilst in the holding stalls, FIFTY FIFTY had its left front plate replated. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. During the preliminary, B Prebble was dislodged from LASER POWER. LASER POWER was quickly recaptured and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. TRAVEL CONSULTANT was slow to begin. WIN AGAIN began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of GREAT GUY. CHIMERA made the turn at the 1000 Metres awkwardly, hung out and was steadied away from the heels of BRAMBLE BLITZ. At the 500 Metres, TRAVEL CONSULTANT (Apprentice C W Wong), which got its head on the side, was checked to avoid the heels of EXPECTATIONS (Apprentice C K Tong) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Tong was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Apprentice Wong was warned for the manner in which he tendered evidence during this inquiry. In the early part of the Straight, WIN AGAIN had difficulty obtaining clear running and was shifted to the inside of FIFTY FIFTY, then again experienced difficulty obtaining clear running after the 200 Metres. At the 200 Metres, HELENE ELEGANCE and GREAT GUY bumped when HELENE ELEGANCE was carried out slightly by FIFTY FIFTY. Near the 100 Metres, CHATER POWER, which was giving ground, became unbalanced. Throughout the race, CANNONISE travelled wide and without cover. F Coetzee (GREAT GUY) said the intention had been to lead with the horse if possible. He said GREAT GUY did not show sufficient pace to lead, however, he was able to obtain a position forward of midfield. He said GREAT GUY did not feel comfortable due to the tempo of the race and in his opinion indicated it is a horse which is better suited over a distance of further than the 1200 Metres of this race. Y T Cheng (EVERY TIME) said he was instructed to ride the horse in 4th or 5th position if possible. He said EVERY TIME began well, he rode it along to obtain a forward position, however, because of the manner in which the race was run he was not able to obtain a position with cover. He said because of this EVERY TIME travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. GREAT GUY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. EVERY TIME and CHATER POWER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GREAT GUY, EVERY TIME and CHATER POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. LASER POWER and FIFTY FIFTY were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 11 January 2007)
EVERY TIME, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. EVERY TIME was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C S Shum this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, EVERY TIME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
