Racing Incident Report
FLASHING STAR proved difficult to load, then after being boxed broke through the front gates of its stall. FLASHING STAR was immediately reined in and returned to the Start where it was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. VICTORY START was slow to begin and then lost further ground when crowded for room between GANBARIA and FLYING SPRINTER, both of which shifted ground. CLASSA FOR EVER began awkwardly and lost ground, then shortly afterwards was crowded for room inside EASY which was carried in by THUNDER FLASH. After the 800 Metres, PLEZAYRE, which from the outside barrier had been caught wide on the track, was steadied and taken across behind runners. Also after the 800 Metres, FLASHING STAR was checked when crowded for room inside LUCKY STRAVINSKY which initially got its head on the side and shifted in away from THUNDER FLASH (B Prebble) before being carried in further by that horse. In the circumstances, B Prebble was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care. Near the 700 Metres, CLASSA FOR EVER was steadied away from the heels of GOOD TO GO which shifted in when barely clear. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, CLASSA FOR EVER got its head up when close to the heels of GOOD TO GO. Rounding the Home Turn, PLEZAYRE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of GANBARIA. Prior to straightening, LUCKY STRAVINSKY was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of GOOD TO GO. On straightening, FLASHING STAR was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY STRAVINSKY. Approaching the 200 Metres, CLASSA FOR EVER was carried wider by EASY which at this time shifted to the outside of SURE JOY into clear running. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, VICTORY START was steadied when disappointed for running between FLASHING STAR and AMO. At the 150 Metres, AMO was shifted to the inside of SURE JOY to go forward. For the major part of the race, FLYING SPRINTER travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of EASY, Mr K W Lui, trainer of the horse, said he felt the horse showed considerable improvement at its last start in what was a higher quality race than tonight. He said following this performance in which EASY obtained a good position with cover he instructed Y T Cheng to ride the horse in a similar position if possible tonight. FLASHING STAR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FLASHING STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. EASY and THUNDER FLASH were sent for sampling.
