Racing Incident Report

On jumping, PRESENT TREASURE blundered and lost ground. At the start, TAIJI SPIRIT was checked when crowded for room between SPEED FIGHTER and SUPREMACY which was carried out by MAGIC TEMPLE which on jumping shifted ground abruptly. In the middle stages, FORTE hung out. At the 600 Metres, MAGIC TEMPLE was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of DASHING WINNER which for the majority of the race hung out. On straightening, MAGIC TEMPLE was steadied when disappointed for running between PRESENT TREASURE and TAIJI SPIRIT which shifted out. G Mossé (SUPREMACY) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that shortly after straightening he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of GENKI KING, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. G Mossé was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 18 January 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 10 January 2007. In addition, G Mossé was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. For some distance after the 300 Metres, MAGIC TEMPLE was again steadied when unable to obtain clear running between TAIJI SPIRIT and DASHING WINNER which continued to hang. After this, DASHING WINNER continued to hang out, proved difficult to ride and shifted wider on the track, causing TAIJI SPIRIT to be carried out. Throughout the race, SPEED FIGHTER travelled wide and without cover. TAIJI SPIRIT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TAIJI SPIRIT after the race did not show any significant findings. BYRON and FAT CHOY FOREVER were sent for sampling.
