Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, S K Sit, the rider of DANRIVA, expressed concern over the action of the horse during its preliminary. DANRIVA was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. CAPABILITY and DANRIVA were slow to begin. TREASURE RAIDERS began awkwardly. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, MILITARY OPTION raced tight inside GLORIOUS RHYTHM. From the outside barrier, LA MERVEILLE was taken across behind runners in the early stages. At the 1300 Metres, CAPABILITY, which had been ridden along to maintain its position, was steadied away from the heels of MILITARY OPTION which shifted out. This caused inconvenience to GLORIOUS RHYTHM which was carried wider. After this, CAPABILITY proved difficult to settle. After the 1300 Metres, MAGI JOY was steadied away from the heels of MUTUAL GAIN (Y T Cheng) which steadied the tempo after crossing to the fence in the lead. Y T Cheng was told to ensure he does not slow the tempo of the race unduly. In the early and middle stages, on a number of occasions, TREASURE RAIDERS got its head up when proving difficult to settle. At the 250 Metres, MILITARY OPTION, which for some distance had experienced difficulty obtaining clear running, was struck on the nose by the whip of D Whyte (CAPABILITY). After the 200 Metres, DANRIVA, which was closing the race off fairly, was checked initially to avoid the heels of NOBLE RAIDER, then GLORIOUS RHYTHM. DANRIVA was then shifted out to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages, TREASURE RAIDERS was inclined to hang out. Because of this, B Prebble, its rider, changed the whip into his left hand. Throughout the race, GLORIOUS RHYTHM travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of CAPABILITY, D Whyte said because of the tempo of the race, CAPABILITY would not settle and as such failed to close the race off. CAPABILITY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. RAIN IN SPRING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CAPABILITY and RAIN IN SPRING after the race did not show any significant findings. MAGI JOY and CHINOOK were sent for sampling.
