Racing Incident Report
MAGIC TEMPLE, which was fractious in its stall, was slow to begin. WISE LOVER began awkwardly, shifted in and lost ground. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, WISE LOVER, which was racing tight inside SYDNEY EXPRESS, became unbalanced when it jumped a shadow. Shortly after straightening, DIAMOND ERA was steadied away from the heels of AMSTERDAM. After the 200 Metres, DON RICARDO, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of AMSTERDAM. At the 100 Metres, Apprentice K L Chui (WISE LOVER) dropped his left rein. As he was re-gathering this rein, WISE LOVER shifted in and was then steadied away from the heels of GALLANT KNIGHT. After the 100 Metres, MAGIC TEMPLE, which was closing the race off strongly, was checked to avoid the heels of FRIENDSHIP. For the remainder of the race, MAGIC TEMPLE continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of FRIENDSHIP and because of this was not ridden out. Over the concluding stages, SYDNEY EXPRESS was slightly carried wider by VICTORY TREASURE. Apprentice K W Tsui (FORTUNE BOY) said he had been instructed to lead if possible or otherwise to obtain a forward position with cover. He said in the early stages despite being ridden along FORTUNE BOY did not show speed and consequently got further back than intended. He said in addition he was not able to obtain a position with cover and therefore raced wide throughout. FORTUNE BOY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. AMSTERDAM, VICTORY TREASURE and SYDNEY EXPRESS were sent for sampling.
