Racing Incident Report
MULLAAD was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when checked as a result of being crowded between GLOBAL WIN which shifted in and CALIFORNIA PRINCE which itself was crowded and carried out by CLASSA FOR EVER which itself was also crowded and carried out by FLYING SPRINTER. As a result of this incident, CALIFORNIA PRINCE and CLASSA FOR EVER also lost ground. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, EGYPTIAN RA, which had been hanging in, was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of LIBERAL'S KNIGHT. In the Straight, EGYPTIAN RA hung in. When questioned, G Mossé (DR GREEN) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in about midfield. He said DR GREEN was slow to begin and bumped with the hindquarters of GOLDEN SUN. He said he then allowed DR GREEN to become balanced and then rode along to improve his position, however, when he did this, runners from his outside crossed. He said he then obtained a position behind midfield following EXPECTATIONS which did not continue going forward and on the inside of EGYPTIAN RA which hung in and caused some crowding to him after the 800 Metres. He said DR GREEN did not feel comfortable racing in that position and making the turn at the 700 Metres became unbalanced, commenced to hang out and lost further ground. He said he therefore shifted DR GREEN away from the running rail coming around the Home Turn and in the Straight the horse finished strongly. G Mossé's explanation was accepted. The performance of MULLAAD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MULLAAD will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. EGYPTIAN RA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of EGYPTIAN RA after the race did not show any significant findings. DR GREEN, LIBERAL'S KNIGHT and EXPECTATIONS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the trachea of CALIFORNIA PRINCE.
