Racing Incident Report
When leaving the Parade Ring, MASTER ABLE made heavy contact with the gate leading to the track. After arriving at the Start, MASTER ABLE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had sustained a laceration to the right hind leg and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of MASTER ABLE. Before being allowed to race again, MASTER ABLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SWEETIE bounded in the air at the start and as a consequence lost ground. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, FIGS was steadied away from the heels of BAYVIEW LAD. At the 1300 Metres, when being steadied, RED FORTUNE got its head up, shifted out and was checked away from the heels of JOY AND TREASURE which had initially been carried in slightly by WINWIN COMBO. When RED FORTUNE checked, inconvenience was caused to SWEETIE. At the 100 Metres, DANEPRINT shifted in and made contact with FIGS. Because of this, Y T Cheng stopped riding and straightened his mount. Near the winning post, FAIRPLAY was close to the heels of STRIKE TO WIN. Because of this, FAIRPLAY was not ridden out right to the line. Y T Cheng (DANEPRINT) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse behind the leaders if possible. He said DANEPRINT did not show any gate speed tonight, shortly after the start was crossed by MODERN PROSPECT and as a consequence travelled further back than was intended. Apprentice H W Lai (SWEETIE), which was having its first run from a spell tonight, said after beginning poorly the horse travelled only fairly throughout the run and in the Straight failed to finish the race off. He said after the race he noted SWEETIE to be blowing heavily. SWEETIE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SWEETIE after the race did not show any significant findings. DANEPRINT, WINNING COMBO and STRIKE TO WIN were sent for sampling.
