Racing Incident Report
BEAR DOMINANCE was slow to begin. At the 600 Metres, STAY YOUNG was carried wider when AMPLE GAINS shifted out from behind LIBERAL'S CHOICE. From shortly after straightening until the 150 Metres, RIVER ESPERANTO was not able to obtain clear running and as a consequence was not fully tested. Consideration was given to a protest/objection lodged by R Fradd, the rider of second placegetter, SHABU SHABU against SYLLABUS (A Delpech) being declared the winner for alleged interference inside the 300 Metres. It was established near the 200 Metres SHABU SHABU, which had been shifted out in an endeavour to improve between STAY YOUNG and SYLLABUS, was steadied and shifted out when SYLLABUS which was hanging in shifted ground. As the Stewards could not be satisfied that SHABU SHABU had properly established rightful running to the inside of SYLLABUS at the time it was inconvenienced, the protest/objection was overruled and weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. At the 100 Metres, ALL CHANCES was checked to avoid the heels of STAY YOUNG which was carried in by SYLLABUS which continued to shift ground whilst hanging. LIBERAL'S CHOICE and RIVER ESPERANTO, which were following, were hampered and steadied in consequence. Whilst the Stewards accepted A Delpech had made an effort to prevent SYLLABUS shifting ground, they nonetheless severely reprimanded him and told him in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort. Over the final 100 Metres, SIKANDER was not able to obtain clear running. For the major part of the race, ALL CHANCES travelled wide and without cover. LIBERAL'S CHOICE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. SIKANDER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LIBERAL'S CHOICE and SIKANDER after the race did not show any significant findings. SYLLABUS and SHABU SHABU were sent for sampling.
