Racing Incident Report

While being paraded prior to the race, HONEST TREASURE shifted its right front plate. This plate was reset. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. ACCELERATION was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, SHOW BRAVELY was steadied when crowded for room between MIRACLE DRAGON and AWESOME EAGLE, both of which shifted ground. In the early stages, NATURAL MODEL from the outside barrier, which was racing wide and without cover, was taken back to a rearward position, however, continued to race without cover. Also in the early stages, MIRACULOUS proved difficult to settle. Approaching the 1400 Metres, FEBURO was steadied away from the heels of MIRACLE DRAGON after being carried in by MASONIC TREASURE which itself was carried in by HONEST TREASURE which shifted ground away from the heels of STAR OF NORTHERN (M Nunes) which also shifted ground. As the Stewards were satisfied M Nunes had straightened his mount, no action was taken. At the 1400 Metres, MASONIC TREASURE was bumped by HONEST TREASURE. On straightening, FEBURO was carried wider by MIRACLE DRAGON. SPARKLE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SPARKLE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat and an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SPARKLE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MIRACLE DRAGON, STAR OF NORTHERN and HONEST TREASURE were sent for sampling.
