Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, SUNRISE STRIKER bounded in the air and lost a considerable amount of ground. After the 1600 Metres, MADE IN HONGKONG was checked when crowded for room between HONG KONG GEM and DURABLE which shifted in of its own accord after initially being carried in by HAPPY ALL AROUND (Apprentice H W Lai) which got its head on the side and shifted in. As the Stewards were satisfied Apprentice Lai had made sufficient effort to straighten his mount prior to the incident, no action was taken. For some distance approaching the winning post on the first occasion, HONG KONG GEM raced tight inside DURABLE which had its head on the side and was laying in away from HAPPY ALL AROUND. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, HONG KONG GEM became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREEN IDEAL. At the 900 Metres, NEW TAMAR was steadied away from the heels of NATURAL ECHO. Making the Home Turn, GREEN IDEAL was held up behind ESPOIR D'OR. HONG KONG GEM, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of GREEN IDEAL. At the 250 Metres, GREEN IDEAL was crowded for room when improving into a narrow run inside ESPOIR D'OR which shifted in slightly. Also at the 250 Metres, NEW TAMAR was steadied away from the heels of NATURAL ECHO which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in. At the 150 Metres, NEW TAMAR was crowded for room when improving into a narrow run on the inside of ESPOIR D'OR. In the Straight, when being ridden out, NOBLE BOSS shifted ground on a number of occasions which required its rider to stop riding and straighten. In the Straight, DURABLE hung in. Throughout the race, FORTUNE GOLD travelled wide and without cover. DURABLE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DURABLE after the race did not show any significant findings. NATURAL ECHO, GREEN IDEAL and HAPPY ALL AROUND were sent for sampling.
