Racing Incident Report
Prior to the declaration of weighed-in, the Stewards semaphored the inquiry signal to consider whether WINNING BLISS had had an unfair start. It was established when the gates opened WINNING BLISS refused to jump and took no part in the race. As such, WINNING BLISS was deemed to have had a fair start and weighed-in was semaphored on the numbers as declared by the Judge. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING BLISS will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. On straightening, DASH AHEAD was steadied and shifted to the outside to obtain clear running. After the 200 Metres, GOLD FIELD got its head on the side, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of NASA PEARL which shifted in slightly. After this, GOLD FIELD continued to lay out. When questioned, Apprentice C W Wong (TIME SUPREME) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position with cover. He said TIME SUPREME missed the start badly, he then rode along in an endeavour to follow his instructions. He said he was wide on the course and this allowed him to continue forward to race up three wide outside the lead after the 1400 Metres. He said when in this position TIME SUPREME proved difficult for him to settle, at the 800 Metres commenced to lay out and as a consequence he was not able to bring the horse back to a position behind HEALTHY WEALTHY with cover. Mr C H Yip, trainer of TIME SUPREME, confirmed the riding instructions and said he anticipated the race would be run at a steady tempo. He said after viewing the films in his opinion Apprentice Wong in the circumstances after TIME SUPREME began badly made too much use of the horse in the early stages. Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and told his riding on this occasion in the opinion of the Stewards lacked judgement and he would be expected to show more initiative. Before being allowed to race again, TIME SUPREME will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. HEALTHY WEALTHY and WONG'S FAVOURITE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HEALTHY WEALTHY and WONG'S FAVOURITE after the race did not show any significant findings. TIME SUPREME, DASH AHEAD and LUCKY MONEY were sent for sampling.
