Racing Incident Report
In the early stages, MASTER MARAUDER hung in. When questioned, D Nikolic (FORTUNE BOY) said the intention had been to have the horse ridden in a forward position as is usual. He said FORTUNE BOY did not begin well today, then failed to show its usual speed and as a consequence got well back. He said in the middle stages FORTUNE BOY got its head on the side and hung out which it has done in the past, then in the Straight failed to finish the race off. When questioned, F Coetzee (VITALITY CHAMP) explained in the Back Straight and approaching the turn at the 800 Metres the horse hung out and raced ungenerously. He said it proved difficult for him to maintain a position with cover behind DANEHILL WARRIOR to avoid being three wide. He said as a consequence of the manner in which VITALITY CHAMP raced in the early stages, the horse failed to finish the race off and was disappointing. TACTIC KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, TACTIC KING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, TACTIC KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. VITALITY CHAMP, DANEHILL WARRIOR and LIVERBIRD were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of VITALITY CHAMP, DANEHILL WARRIOR and LIVERBIRD after the race did not show any significant findings. FLYING BISHOP and DR MORE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported MASTER MARAUDER had lost its right hind plate.
