Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, CALIFORNIA LUCK bounded in the air and lost ground. Also when the gates opened, LUCKY STALLION put its head down and began awkwardly. On jumping, BEST POWER was crowded for room between GOOD VIEW SUCCESS and VITALITY CHAMP which was carried in by SING FAY FAY which shifted abruptly on jumping. In this incident, GOOD VIEW SUCCESS also became unbalanced behind. Also on jumping, SUMMERVILLE POWER knuckled. Near the 1200 Metres, WIN FOR ALL was steadied to avoid the heels of CHATER DE LAGO (A Delpech) which shifted in when not properly clear. A Delpech was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. After the 1100 Metres, DELIGHTFUL WIN, which had shifted to the inside of ABLE KNIGHT to improve its position, was checked to avoid the heels of that horse after becoming unbalanced when bumped by CALIFORNIA LUCK which at this time was proving difficult to settle and itself was bumped by WIN FOR ALL which shifted out slightly. In the circumstances, no action was taken. At the 300 Metres, M W Leung (FREEBIRD), which was hanging in, dropped his left rein. M W Leung re-gathered this rein after the 250 Metres. The performance of CHATER DE LAGO, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHATER DE LAGO will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the performance of WIN FOR ALL, D Dunn said after being interfered with near the 1200 Metres, WIN FOR ALL then raced in restricted room between SUMMERVILLE POWER and ABLE KNIGHT for some distance near the 800 Metres, however, irrespective of these incidents WIN FOR ALL commenced to give ground after the 800 Metres and then did not respond to his riding thereafter. The performance of WIN FOR ALL was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WIN FOR ALL will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. O Doleuze (AWARD) said at no stage of the race did his horse travel as he thought it should. He said in the early stages he shifted wider on the track to ensure his horse had clear galloping room. He said on several occasions during the race and also after the race AWARD made abnormal breathing noises. AWARD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, AWARD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, AWARD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. B Prebble (DELIGHTFUL WIN) reported his mount did not travel comfortably from the 800 Metres. DELIGHTFUL WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, DELIGHTFUL WIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to have a displacement of the soft palate. BEST POWER and VITALITY CHAMP were sent for sampling.
