Racing Incident Report

GOLDEN WIN was withdrawn on 27.5.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore foot) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GRASS HOPPER (Apprentice K L Chui). Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY SPECIAL began awkwardly, got its head up, became unbalanced and lost ground. RICH FOR ALL and GLOBAL LEADER were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, WITHALLMYHEART became unbalanced when bumped by GRASS HOPPER which shifted in. After the 800 Metres, NEW TRIUMPH was steadied away from the heels of CAGA BOY which at this time shifted in to a position behind EVEREST. Near the 700 Metres, BALL OF FIRE was steadied away from the heels of RICH FOR ALL. In the middle stages, DEVON FLAIR proved difficult to settle. At the 300 Metres, M W Leung (CROWNED GEM) momentarily dropped his left rein while changing the whip into his left hand. After the 50 Metres, CROWNED GEM was steadied away from the heels of RICH FOR ALL. In the Straight, EVEREST hung in. The performance of LUCKY SPECIAL, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY SPECIAL will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GLOBAL LEADER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, GLOBAL LEADER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had sustained a laceration to the left hind pastern. RICH FOR ALL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of RICH FOR ALL after the race did not show any significant findings. GRASS HOPPER and CAGA BOY were sent for sampling.
