Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, MIRACLE DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After being boxed, RISING WIN became fractious and broke through the front gate of its stall. RISING WIN was quickly reined in and returned to the Start where it was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, RISING WIN will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. MIRACLE DRAGON was slow to begin. On jumping, FIGS and OH GREAT bumped. From the outside gate, TURF GOLD was taken across behind runners. At the 1500 Metres, KIWI DASH was steadied away from the hindquarters of PULL NO PUNCH which was being hard ridden after being slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KINGSTON GLORY hung in. After the 600 Metres, BAYVIEW LAD was steadied when awkwardly placed between PLEASANT JOURNEY and PULL NO PUNCH which was giving ground. S Dye (BAYVIEW LAD) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said near the 600 Metres he was inconvenienced when PULL NO PUNCH was giving ground, however, in the circumstances this was of little significance. The performance of BAYVIEW LAD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, BAYVIEW LAD will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. M W Leung (PULL NO PUNCH) said he had been instructed if possible to obtain a forward position. He said PULL NO PUNCH did not show early speed, he therefore rode along in an effort to carry out his instructions. He said PULL NO PUNCH travelled three wide without cover outside the lead, however, commenced to give ground shortly after the 800 Metres. He said while he accepted he had made use of PULL NO PUNCH in the early stages, he was unable to account for the horse commencing to give ground at this stage of the race. The performance of PULL NO PUNCH, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, PULL NO PUNCH will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BAYVIEW LAD, PULL NO PUNCH and PLEASANT JOURNEY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BAYVIEW LAD and PULL NO PUNCH after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, PLEASANT JOURNEY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PLEASANT JOURNEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. G-ONE LEADING and KINGSTON GLORY were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 25 May 2006)
PULL NO PUNCH, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. PULL NO PUNCH was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer S Woods this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be sore in the left front tendon. As previously advised, PULL NO PUNCH will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
