Racing Incident Report
LIFELINE RAPIDE bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. GOLD MEDAL WINNER began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of CLASSABOVE. Shortly after the start, PERFECT TIME was steadied when crowded for room between VICTORY CODE and KING ENCOSTA, both of which shifted ground. With the intention of being ridden quietly from the outside barrier, LIVERBIRD was steadied and taken across behind runners after jumping. At the 1200 Metres, CHATER DE LAGO got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of GRAND NOBLE which shifted in when barely clear. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, CHATER DE LAGO and VICTORY CODE (B Prebble) raced tight due to VICTORY CODE shifting in. B Prebble was told whilst competitive riding is acceptable, he should ensure that his riding does not place him in breach of the Rules. At the 700 Metres, CHATER DE LAGO became unbalanced when awkwardly placed between VICTORY CODE and HONOUR SUPREME. On straightening, CHATER DE LAGO was steadied when close to the heels of VICTORY CODE. Also on straightening, LIFELINE RAPIDE was bumped and carried wider by PERFECT TIME which shifted towards the outside of SAMBUOYANT into clear running. At the 250 Metres, PERFECT TIME, which was racing tight inside LIFELINE RAPIDE, was steadied to avoid the heels of LIVERBIRD (S Dye) which shifted out when not properly clear. S Dye was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Throughout the race, RELY ON ME travelled wide and without cover. Y T Cheng (MAVERICK STAR) said the intention had been to make his finishing run on the outside. He said because of this despite there being an opportunity to shift to the fence for some distance after the 800 Metres, he continued to race one horse away from the rail behind CHATER DE LAGO. He said however after the 600 Metres he felt that horse would not carry him forward, he therefore at that time improved on its inside. GOLD MEDAL WINNER and KING ENCOSTA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, GOLD MEDAL WINNER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GOLD MEDAL WINNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of KING ENCOSTA after the race did not show any significant findings. RELY ON ME, VICTORY CODE and MAVERICK STAR were sent for sampling.
