Racing Incident Report

WINNING BLISS and BOOMING CITY were slow to begin. STRONG SUN, which had been intended to be ridden in front of midfield, was slow to begin and as a consequence raced further back than was intended. From a wide barrier, CASH IN on jumping was steadied and taken across behind runners. After the 1400 Meters, CALIFORNIA LUCK was steadied to allow ELEGANT KING PRAWN to cross to the lead. DR MORE, which was following CALIFORNIA LUCK, was inconvenienced. Rounding the Home Turn, FREEBIRD hung out. Prior to straightening, CASH IN was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of WINNING BLISS. Inside the final 200 Metres, FREEBIRD got its head on the side, shifted in and brushed ELEGANT KING PRAWN. For the remainder of the race, FREEBIRD continued to hang in, proved difficult to ride and raced tight outside ELEGANT KING PRAWN. After the 100 Metres, CALIFORNIA LUCK, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of VITALITY CHAMP which shifted in. The performance of WINNING BLISS, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING BLISS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FLYING BISHOP, which performed poorly, was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, FLYING BISHOP was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat and an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING BISHOP will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BOOMING CITY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, BOOMING CITY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, BOOMING CITY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CALIFORNIA LUCK and TIGER RIDGE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA LUCK and TIGER RIDGE after the race did not show any significant findings. ELEGANT KING PRAWN and FREEBIRD were sent for sampling.
