Racing Incident Report
While in the holding stalls, it was noted OUR JET had lost its right hind plate. This plate was reset. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. LUCKY UNICORN began awkwardly, then lost further ground after being bumped by STRONG GAIN which itself began awkwardly and shifted in. On jumping, LIBERAL'S KNIGHT knuckled. At the 1100 Metres, OUR JET became unbalanced when shifted to the rail. After the 1100 Metres, STRONG GAIN got its head on the side when being steadied away from the heels of LUCKY UNICORN. At the 700 Metres, SANZIRO, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of EVERY TIME. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, OUR JET bumped the running rail. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, LUCKY UNICORN hung out. Approaching and passing the 100 Metres, ENGINEERING WONDER, which was closing the race off, was unable to obtain clear running between FLYING SPRINTER and LIBERAL'S KNIGHT. At the 50 Metres, ENGINEERING WONDER was steadied away from the heels of LIBERAL'S KNIGHT. Because of this, ENGINEERING WONDER was not properly tested. Throughout the race, ALWAYS GREEN travelled wide and without cover. STRONG GAIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. LUCKY UNICORN was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of STRONG GAIN and LUCKY UNICORN after the race did not show any significant findings. SANZIRO and FLYING SPRINTER were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported EVERY TIME had lost its right front plate. At Sha Tin next Saturday, the Stewards will seek an explanation from F Coetzee (LUCKY UNICORN) and O Doleuze (STRONG GAIN) regarding the poor performances of their respective mounts.
