Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, NOBLE CONQUEROR became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE CONQUEROR will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. ALIPES began awkwardly. PROPELLOR began awkwardly and stumbled. On jumping, SUPERB got its head up. Shortly after the start, NOBLE CONQUEROR was steadied away from the heels of SHINING DRAGON. Also shortly after the start, LA TACHE was steadied when crowded for room between PALIO KING and GOOD TO GREAT which shifted in. At the 1000 Metres, LA TACHE was steadied when crowded for room between NOBLE CONQUEROR and ALIPES which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from PROPELLOR which was also shifting in. In the circumstances, no action was taken. At the 1000 Metres, PALIO KING was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of GOOD TO GREAT. When PALIO KING steadied, inconvenience was caused to PROPELLOR which was carried wider by PALIO KING which shifted out. Also at the 1000 Metres, SHINING DRAGON was steadied away from the heels of HEALTHY FRUITS. After this, SHINING DRAGON proved difficult to settle. Apprentice K L Chui (SHINING DRAGON) dropped his whip at the 300 Metres. At the 200 Metres, SHINING DRAGON and GOOD TO GREAT were hampered and carried wider by HEALTHY FRUITS which at this time shifted to the outside of SUPERB. Also at the 200 Metres, NOBLE CONQUEROR was shifted in to continue going forward. For the major part of the race, PROPELLOR travelled wide and without cover. Prior to weighed-in being declared, Apprentice K L Chui, in the company of Trainer C W Chang, reported as a result of his mount becoming fractious and rearing prior to the start being effected, he did not have use of his left stirrup. He said as a consequence when the gates opened SHINING DRAGON began awkwardly, causing him to become unbalanced and lose ground. He said shortly after the start he regained the use of his stirrup. After viewing all of the available videos, the Stewards in their opinion did not believe this to be an appropriate circumstance to exercise the powers granted to them under Rule 12(19). G Mossé (PALIO KING) said the horse in his opinion did not appreciate tonight's track conditions. He said making the turn at the 1000 Metres PALIO KING hung out, then proved difficult to settle and again hung out making the turn at the 600 Metres and because of this did not finish the race off. EUPHORIC KID was sent for an official veterinary inspection. PALIO KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of EUPHORIC KID and PALIO KING after the race did not show any significant findings. HEALTHY FRUITS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, HEALTHY FRUITS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, HEALTHY FRUITS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOLDEN STRIDE was sent for sampling. The Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and riding of HEALTHY FRUITS and in particular in the Home Straight. Evidence was taken from R Fradd, the rider of HEALTHY FRUITS and Mr K L Man, trainer of the horse. The inquiry was adjourned until a date to be fixed.
