Racing Incident Report

SANBENITO was slow to begin and then lost further ground when bumped by EGYPTIAN RA which on jumping bounded in the air and shifted out abruptly. FIRST AMONG EQUALS bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. On jumping, SOLAR was bumped by SAVUTE which shifted in. In the early stages, EGYPTIAN RA proved very difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. At the 600 Metres, EGYPTIAN RA was checked to avoid the heels of FANTUZZI which was steadied when awkwardly placed between WINNING SUCCESS which shifted in slightly and WINNING REWARD which shifted out slightly. On straightening, DON FELIPE was carried wider by FANTUZZI which shifted out. In the early part of the Straight, SUPREME CLASS hung out. After the 300 Metres, when under pressure, SIR ERNESTO got its head on the side and shifted out. Near the 200 Metres, EGYPTIAN RA was shifted in away from the heels of DON FELIPE. In the Straight, JIANG JUN hung out, then at the 50 Metres was steadied when crowded for room between SIR ERNESTO and SUPREME CLASS which shifted in. For the major part of the race, WINNING SUCCESS travelled wide and without cover. DON FELIPE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, DON FELIPE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DON FELIPE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ARMADA and WINNING REWARD were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported EGYPTIAN RA had sustained a laceration wound to the mouth.
