Racing Incident Report

SILENT DRAGON was withdrawn on 25.4.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MASTER ABLE (F Coetzee). Before being allowed to race again, SILENT DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. From the outside barrier, FOURSQUARE, which began awkwardly, was taken across behind runners. MASTER ABLE was slow to begin, then raced ungenerously in the early stages. DANCING FAITH, which was standing with its head turned to the left, was slow to begin. GRASS HOPPER bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. Approaching the turn at the 600 Metres, SOUND OF SILENCE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside LIVERPOOLTHEGREAT which shifted in. Also approaching the turn at the 600 Metres, DANCING FAITH, which was racing greenly, got its head up and shifted out away from the heels of GRAND COMMANDS. This caused crowding to GRASS HOPPER which as a result lost ground. After the 600 Metres, GRASS HOPPER lost further ground when being steadied away from the heels of DANCING FAITH which continued to get its head up and shift out. In the early part of the Straight, TABBRIS hung in. After the 400 Metres, FOURSQUARE was steadied away from the heels of GRAND COMMANDS. In the Straight, FOURSQUARE hung in and proved difficult to shift out into clear running. SOUTHERN LIGHT and GRASS HOPPER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SOUTHERN LIGHT and GRASS HOPPER after the race did not show any significant findings. SAND DANCE and GRAND COMMANDS were sent for sampling.
