Racing Incident Report

KA KA WIN was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore right fore suspensory ligament). Before being allowed to race again, KA KA WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, SHANGHAI KING got its head up and was then bumped by ELEPHANT DANCE which shifted out. In the middle stages, MATIRI KING and SEASONS KNACK proved difficult to settle. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, NASA PEARL which for some distance had been racing tight inside HAPPY CONTENDER was severely checked when crowded for room inside that horse which had its head on the side and initially shifted in away from MATIRI KING (Y T Cheng) before being carried in further by MATIRI KING which had been ridden along to improve inside SEASONS KNACK (R Fradd) which at this time had its head on the side and shifted in. Although the matter was one of some significance, the Stewards believed MATIRI KING having improved its position inside SEASONS KNACK after having initially been drawn outside that horse had contributed to this incident, therefore it was decided R Fradd would be reprimanded and told in similar circumstances to exercise greater care. Y T Cheng was also told to exercise care. After the 600 Metres, NASA PEARL was unable to improve when racing behind HAPPY CONTENDER and inside MATIRI KING. At the 250 Metres, SEASONS KNACK was steadied and shifted to the outside of SURVEYOR to obtain clear running. After the 200 Metres, CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted to the inside of RIGHT FRAAR. Over the concluding stages, ELEPHANT DANCE and SURVEYOR raced tight. Also over the concluding stages, FIREWHEEL, which was hanging in, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SEASONS KNACK and because of this was not ridden out right to the end of the race. RIGHT FRAAR, CHEERFUL HEART and SEASONS KNACK were sent for sampling.
