Racing Incident Report
ORIENTAL MAGIC began awkwardly, bumped with FIFTY FIFTY and as a consequence lost ground. Shortly after the start, MY CHOICE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside ALL'S WELL. In the early stages, OUR JET proved difficult to settle and after the 900 Metres blundered. Over the final 300 Metres, GEM OF INDIA hung in. Over the final 200 Metres, REGENCY HORSE hung out. Throughout the race, WHATABOB travelled wide and without cover. G Mossé (ORIENTAL MAGIC) explained the horse was not comfortable in today's track conditions. He said he rode along in the early stages in an endeavour to maintain his position, however the horse was reluctant to stride out, after the 800 Metres changed leads, then did not travel as he thought it should and in the Straight gave ground. Mr D Oughton, trainer of ORIENTAL MAGIC, was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of ORIENTAL MAGIC other than to suggest the horse might not have appreciated today's track conditions. ORIENTAL MAGIC was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ORIENTAL MAGIC after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of ORIENTAL MAGIC, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ORIENTAL MAGIC will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ALL'S WELL and TRIUMPHANT UNICORN were sent for sampling.
