Racing Incident Report
SPEED WINNER and SPECTACULAR TIMES were slow to begin. After the 1500 Metres, KINGSTON GLORY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of WAVY PEAK. At the same time, LAZY BUDDIES was steadied away from the heels of SPEED OF LIGHT. Making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, NEW TAMAR was carried wider by FIGS which shifted ground. From the 400 Metres until near the 200 Metres, MAVERICK had difficulty obtaining clear running initially behind PREMIER BURG and KINGSTON GLORY and then between KINGSTON GLORY and SPECTACULAR TIMES which at the 300 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of FREE WAY and then was carried in further by that horse which in the Straight hung in and proved difficult to ride. For the major part of the race, SPEED WINNER travelled wide and without cover. The performance of PREMIER BURG, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PREMIER BURG will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MAVERICK, LAZY BUDDIES and CAPABEL were sent for sampling.
