Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, HORACE'S HORSE (N Ryan) became fractious and reared over in the stall. When this occurred, N Ryan sustained an injury to his right foot. Acting on veterinary advice that HORACE'S HORSE was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal. Before being allowed to race again, HORACE'S HORSE will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. After this race, R Nyan was examined by the Club's doctor who said in his opinion he was not suitable to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. HEALTHY FRUITS was withdrawn on 14.3.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality). Before being allowed to race again, HEALTHY FRUITS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. From a wide barrier, LUCKY ENCOUNTER was taken across behind runners. CONSTELLATION was slow to muster speed in the early stages, then making the turn at the 1000 Metres got its head on the side, shifted in away from WISDOM EXPRESS and as a result was steadied away from the heels of THE FACULTY and lost further ground. Near the 900 Metres, TURF GOLD became unbalanced. After the 800 Metres, CONSTELLATION, which was racing ungenerously, was checked away from the heels of GOOD FRIENDS. After the 600 Metres, CROISSANT lost ground when reluctant to hold its position inside THE FACULTY which shifted in slightly. At the 500 Metres, ALL FIT was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CONSTELLATION which at this time got its head on the side and hung in. After this, CONSTELLATION continued to hang in for the remainder of the race and proved difficult to ride and after the 200 Metres was steadied away from the heels of CROISSANT which was giving ground. Over the final 200 Metres, LUCKY ENCOUNTER, which had been closing the race off strongly, was not able to obtain clear running when racing inside TURF GOLD and behind ABLE MARS. As a consequence, LUCKY ENCOUNTER was not tested. At the 100 Metres, CROISSANT, which was continuing to give ground, was steadied when awkwardly placed inside WISDOM EXPRESS. DR HAENSLER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of DR HAENSLER after the race did not show any significant findings. WISDOM EXPRESS and THE FACULTY were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 16 March 2006)
DR HAENSLER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. DR HAENSLER was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A Lee this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a stiff and restricted hindlimb action and significant back pain. Before being allowed to race again, DR HAENSLER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
