Racing Incident Report

Mr Y S Tsui, trainer of HAPPY CRUSADER, was fined $2,000 for presenting the horse in the Parade Ring with other than its approved gear. As the gates opened, HAPPY CRUSADER became fractious, lifted its front feet off the ground, bumped the inside gate of its stall and began awkwardly. WISE LOVER began awkwardly and lost ground at the start and also C Soumillon, its rider, became unbalanced. FABULOUS TREASURE was slow to begin. On jumping, MOONGLOW and SIR OCTAVIUS bumped. After the 1200 Metres, FABULOUS TREASURE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of QUALITY-QUALITY. After the 1000 Metres, HAPPY CRUSADER, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FIGHT BACK. HAPPY CRUSADER continued to race close to the heels of FIGHT BACK for some distance. For a considerable distance after the 800 Metres, SMART FELLOW got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of BOREAS. As a consequence, SMART FELLOW lost ground. At the 500 Metres, SMART FELLOW was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of FIGHT BACK. On straightening, MOONGLOW was carried out by BOREAS which at this time shifted to the outside of RED WINE SUPREME into clear running. After the 400 Metres, CRUSADER OF GOLD and WISE LOVER raced tight due mainly to CRUSADER OF GOLD endeavouring to shift out. For the major part of the race, SIR OCTAVIUS travelled wide and without cover. WISE LOVER and RED WINE SUPREME were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported FIGHT BACK was making an abnormal breathing noise.
