Racing Incident Report

SPECIAL KING PRAWN, which was leaning against the outside of its stall, began awkwardly, then for the major part of the race travelled wide and without cover. Near the 500 Metres, WHATABOB became unbalanced after being bumped by MY CHOICE which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in. W M Lai (WEALTHY TREASURE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that on straightening he shifted his mount out when not clear of WHATABOB, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. W M Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 12 February 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Sunday 5 February 2006. In addition, W M Lai was fined $10,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. When WHATABOB checked, GEM OF INDIA and JOYFUL WINNER, which were following, were checked in consequence. For some distance after the 400 Metres, WHATABOB was held up when unable to obtain clear running. Near the 100 Metres, JOYFUL WINNER when closing the race off strongly was shifted out after having difficulty obtaining clear running between BOBO WIN and HELENE PILLAGING. When JOYFUL WINNER shifted out, it was again unable to obtain clear running, was then checked and shifted back to the inside of HELENE PILLAGING where a clear run had eventuated. After the 50 Metres, SAN LORENZO and GOODY raced tight inside the heels of GOOD PROFIT which shifted in slightly when barely clear. JOYFUL WINNER and BOBO WIN were sent for sampling.
