Racing Incident Report

SUPER BALL and PLENTY OF HEART began awkwardly. As the gates opened, SMART CHAMPION put its head down, was a little slow to begin and was then bumped by KAISER'S CHOIX which shifted in abruptly. As a consequence, both horses lost ground. HAPPY MASTER was slow to begin. In the early stages, SURE JOY proved difficult to settle and at the 800 Metres shifted to the outside of the heels of DOUCAI. Also in the early stages, CROISSANT from a wide barrier travelled wide and without cover and approaching the turn at the 800 Metres was taken back to a position behind PLENTY OF HEART. In the middle stages, KAISER'S CHOIX hung out. At the 500 Metres, CROISSANT was checked when awkwardly placed outside SHARE THE FUN which shifted out and close to the heels of PLENTY OF HEART which at this time was giving ground quickly. No action was taken. Making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, ACTIVE VALOUR was held up and unable to improve when racing behind SURE JOY. Then in the Straight, ACTIVE VALOUR hung out and proved difficult to ride and after the 200 Metres carried SMART CHAMPION wider. When being ridden out after the 200 Metres, SURE JOY got its head on the side and shifted wider on the track. PLENTY OF HEART and CROISSANT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, it was reported PLENTY OF HEART had bled from both nostrils. Also after the race, CROISSANT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CROISSANT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SURE JOY, SUPER BALL and TROPHY were sent for sampling.
