Racing Incident Report
The start of the race was delayed as SUPER IDEAL proved difficult to re-saddle after arriving at the Start. SUPER IDEAL was a little slow to begin, shortly afterwards blundered after clipping the heels of DURABLE which shifted out slightly. FIGS and KING OF SPADES were slow to begin. At the 1400 Metres, DURABLE was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of BARRACUDA which shifted in when barely clear. Also at the 1400 Metres, CHARMING SPEEDY was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of FORTUNE GOLD which at this time shifted out away from the heels of VICTORY TURBO. At the 1200 Metres, DOUBLE PLEASURE was hampered and carried wider as a result of being bumped by SUNDAY DELIGHT (S Dye) which when endeavouring to maintain a position away from the rail shifted out further to avoid the heels of WATCHMAN which at this time lost ground after being steadied away from the heels of DURABLE. S Dye was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to protect his fellow riders. B Prebble (DOUBLE PLEASURE) was found guilty of improper riding [Rule 100(1)] in that at the 1000 Metres he directed his mount in when not clear of SUNDAY DELIGHT, causing that horse to be carried in, crowded for room, strike the heels of WATCHMAN and blunder. In the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for B Prebble's licence to ride in races be suspended until Thursday 26 January 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (6 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 4 January 2006. When SUNDAY DELIGHT blundered at the 1000 Metres, SUPER IDEAL, which was following, was steadied to avoid the heels of that horse. At the 300 Metres, FORTUNE GOLD was brushed by DURABLE which shifted out. The Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and riding of MAIN ATTRACTION. After taking evidence from R Fradd, rider of MAIN ATTRACTION, Mr C H Yip, trainer of MAIN ATTRACTION and the part-owners of MAIN ATTRACTION, Mr H S Chan and Mr M L Yuen, the inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed. SUNDAY DELIGHT was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. MAIN ATTRACTION and CHARMING SPEEDY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUNDAY DELIGHT, MAIN ATTRACTION and CHARMING SPEEDY after the race did not show any significant findings. BARRACUDA and VICTORY TURBO were sent for sampling.
