Racing Incident Report
SPECTACULAR HIT was withdrawn on 12.11.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (abnormal blood test result: raised muscle enzymes) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter CLASSIC KING. Before being allowed to race again, SPECTACULAR HIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MAXIMUS was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was bumped by MEMBERS GLORY which was carried in by CLASSIC KING. Near the 1900 Metres, SHOW BRAVELY, which was being steadied, became unbalanced when crowded for room between TRAVEL LEADER and POSA. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, X-SPEED, which had been a little slow to begin and was then ridden along, was checked when awkwardly placed outside CLASSIC KING and inside the heels of SEA TREASURE which shifted in slightly. No action was taken. Shortly after this, CLASSIC KING became unbalanced after being bumped by MEMBERS GLORY. After the 200 Metres, MAXIMUS was steadied when disappointed for running between CLASSIC KING and BAUHINIA which when under pressure shifted out. At the 150 Metres, MEMBERS GLORY was bumped by FORTUNE GOLD which shifted out. F Coetzee (SEA TREASURE) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said SEA TREASURE's work leading into today's race had been pleasing. He said at no stage of today's race did SEA TREASURE travel comfortably and was under pressure for most of the race. SEA TREASURE and TRAVEL LEADER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SEA TREASURE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. The performance of SEA TREASURE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SEA TREASURE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of TRAVEL LEADER after the race did not show any significant findings. MEMBERS GLORY and MILLION SUCCESS were sent for sampling.
