Racing Incident Report

At declaration time, E Saint-Martin was declared as the rider of both RICE FIELD and COME HO CHOI. It was established that E Saint-Martin had a firm commitment to ride RICE FIELD. As such, the Stewards permitted Y T Cheng to be substituted as the rider of COME HO CHOI. For this declaration error, E Saint-Martin was fined $2,000. On jumping, CHINSOLA was taken back and shifted across behind runners. COME HO CHOI and SUNBELL began awkwardly. GOOD HEART was slow to begin. For some distance after the 1000 Metres, RICE FIELD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GALLANT FALCON. In the middle stages, COME HO CHOI hung out. SUNBELL raced wide and without cover throughout. Apprentice P H Lo (CHINSOLA) said he rode his mount along hands and heels after straightening when it responded moderately. He said inside the final 200 Metres he pulled the whip on CHINSOLA and then again continued to ride it out hands and heels after the 100 Metres. Apprentice Lo was told he must ensure he rides his mounts in a manner which leaves no room for question. A PLUS FIT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of A PLUS FIT after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of A PLUS FIT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, A PLUS FIT will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CLEAN SWEEP and GALLANT FALCON were sent for sampling.
