Racing Incident Report

SIMPLY THE BEST began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall, causing Y T Cheng, its rider, to become unbalanced. As a consequence, SIMPLY THE BEST lost ground. From the outside gates, DISGUISE and ATHLETIC GOLD were immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners. Apprentice C W Wong (GIFTED RUNNER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of LUCKY FRUIT, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 21 November 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Wednesday 9 November 2005. In the middle stages, ARMADA hung out. On straightening, RED STORM RISING was crowded for room and carried wider by CENAMIRA which at this time shifted to the outside of RED WINE SUPREME. Approaching and passing the 400 Metres, CENAMIRA was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RED WINE SUPREME. In the Straight, DISGUISE, which was having its first race start, raced greenly. ARMADA and LUCKY FRUIT were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 7 November 2005)
Mr A Lee, trainer of HAWKIE STAR, reported that yesterday morning following its race on Saturday the horse was lame in the right front leg. This lameness was subsequently confirmed by the Senior Veterinary Officer this morning. Before being allowed to race again, HAWKIE STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
