Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, CALIFORNIASUNSHINE (R Fradd) broke through riderless. CALIFORNIASUNSHINE completed a circuit of the course before being recaptured. Acting on the advice of the Veterinary Officer that CALIFORNIASUNSHINE was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIASUNSHINE will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. R Fradd was found guilty of a charge of misconduct in that he made inappropriate remarks towards the Starter after CALIFORNIASUNSHINE had broken through riderless [Rule 155(5)]. For this breach, R Fradd was fined $20,000. FRUITY FRUITY was slow to begin. Near the 1700 Metres, CHEEKY was steadied when crowded for room inside LUCKY GOOD DAY which was ridden along to maintain its position inside HEALTHY WEALTHY (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not properly clear. O Doleuze was advised to exercise care. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, LUCKSWELL was carried out into a three wide position without cover when LIBERAL'S CHOICE shifted to the outside of HEALTHY WEALTHY after being crossed by that runner. After this, LUCKSWELL was then ridden along to go forward and clear LIBERAL'S CHOICE and race to the outside of HEALTHY WEALTHY. For some distance after straightening, FRUITY FRUITY was held up and unable to improve when racing behind CHEEKY and LUCKSWELL which at this time was giving ground. LUCKSWELL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKSWELL after the race did not show any significant findings. ART TRADER and CHEEKY were sent for sampling.
