Racing Incident Report
Prior to the running of Race 1, it was noted WADADELIGHT had lost its left front plate in the holding stalls. WADADELIGHT was re-plated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. CYPRESS HILL and GOLD FIELD were slow to begin. On jumping, BEAR DOMINANCE from the outside gate was taken across behind runners. After the 1600 Metres, FORTUNE SMILES was brushed by WADADELIGHT. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, WADADELIGHT was shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of KING HOGAN. Approaching the 200 Metres, GOLD FIELD, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied away from the heels of DOUBLE PLEASURE when shifting towards the outside of the field to continue going forward. The performances of SIR OCTAVIUS and KING HOGAN, which tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, SIR OCTAVIUS and KING HOGAN will both have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SIR OCTAVIUS, KING HOGAN and MYSTIC FORCE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SIR OCTAVIUS, KING HOGAN and MYSTIC FORCE after the race did not show any significant findings. WINNING KEVIN and GOLD FIELD were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 6 October 2005)
MYSTIC FORCE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. MYSTIC FORCE was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg with significant back pain. Before being allowed to race again, MYSTIC FORCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
