Racing Incident Report

EASY PUNCH was slow to begin. THE ONLY ONE was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when being bumped by GOLDEN FARM which shifted in after beginning awkwardly. ADAIKALI knuckled on jumping. Shortly after the start, FORTE and FAT CHOY TOGETHER were checked when crowded for room between HARMONY which was carried out slightly by CARELESS WHISPER which in turn was carried out by SALUT BEAUTE and EVER MORE which got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Near the 900 Metres, EASY PUNCH was steadied to avoid the heels of GOLDEN FARM which shifted out when not properly clear. At the 900 Metres, CARELESS WHISPER was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SALUT BEAUTE. Near the 800 Metres, CARELESS WHISPER was again steadied away from the heels of SALUT BEAUTE which shifted out to relieve the pressure it had been applying to HARMONY. From the 600 Metres until after the 200 Metres, FORTE hung out. In the middle stages, CARELESS WHISPER was held up and unable to improve between HARMONY and EVER MORE, then for some distance near the 200 Metres was steadied away from the heels of EVER MORE and shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running. At the 300 Metres, HARMONY was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of LUCKY STRAVINSKY which shifted ground while hanging out. After the 200 Metres, GOLDEN FARM was steadied away from the heels of DRAGON HORSE which was giving ground. Near the 50 Metres, SALUT BEAUTE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of LASER POWER. HARMONY, LUCKY STRAVINSKY and ADAIKALI were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted HARMONY was making an abnormal breathing noise. The Veterinary Officer said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to have a displaced soft palate which indicated it to be an early "roarer".
