Racing Incident Report

SHABU SHABU was withdrawn on 6.9.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, SHABU SHABU will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When the gates opened, ADD THE FUN, which had drawn the outside gate, bounded in the air. After this, ADD THE FUN was shifted in across behind runners. ASSET PLAY began awkwardly and bumped the outside of its stall. In the early stages, FORTUNE SMILES proved difficult to settle and lay out when under pressure in the Straight. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, SUNBELL hung in. Prior to straightening, CLASSA WIN became unbalanced when racing close to the rail. In the Straight, ADD THE FUN hung in. F Coetzee (DREAMS COME TRUE) explained he would have liked to obtain a position with cover, however, because of the manner in which the race was run he found himself racing outside the lead without cover. He said DREAMS COME TRUE did not relax properly for him when racing in this position. He said prior to straightening DREAMS COME TRUE came under pressure, hung out making the Home Turn and gave ground shortly afterwards. He said in a recent trial DREAMS COME TRUE had performed only fairly and faded in the run home, however, its final work leading into tonight's race had in his opinion been good. DREAMS COME TRUE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of DREAMS COME TRUE after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of DREAMS COME TRUE in the circumstances was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, DREAMS COME TRUE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SIXTY SECONDS and ASSET PLAY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SIXTY SECONDS and ASSET PLAY after the race did not show any significant findings. CLASSA WIN and FORTUNE SMILES were sent for sampling.
