Racing Incident Report
WINNING EMPEROR was withdrawn prior to the race by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore left knee). Before being allowed to race again, WINNING EMPEROR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, BUDDIES SPIRIT became fractious and broke through. BUDDIES SPIRIT was quickly reined in and returned to the Start where it was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, BUDDIES SPIRIT will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. SILLY BOY was difficult to load, causing a delay to the start. Before being allowed to race again, SILLY BOY will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. COSMO STAR and BUDDIES SPIRIT were slow to begin. After the 1200 Metres, CAPABILITY was steadied away from the heels of NICKU NICKU which was racing tight inside FUN CRUISER. In the early stages, BUDDIES SPIRIT proved difficult to settle. Prior to straightening, PRO JOY was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of TOURELLE LAD and outside NICKU NICKU which shifted out slightly. After the 200 Metres, CAPABILITY, which was being shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running, was steadied away from the heels of FUN CRUISER. Near the 100 Metres, D Whyte (ABORIGINAL) dropped his whip. E Saint-Martin (STORMY) explained the horse began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. He said after this he rode along to obtain a position with cover behind TOURELLE LAD. He said as a result of being ridden along STORMY for a short distance then proved difficult to settle. He said in the Straight STORMY failed to respond to his riding and finished off only one-paced. STORMY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. COSMO STAR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of STORMY and COSMO STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. ABORIGINAL, PRO JOY and SPOKESMAN were sent for sampling.
