Racing Incident Report
From the outside gate, THOUSAND WINS was taken back across behind runners at the start. FLYING KENNY was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, GRAND FIGHTER and PRINCE GOLF bumped. Also shortly after the start, PHOENIX FORTUNE was bumped by DASHING THUNDER which shifted in. Apprentice K W Tsui (COUNTRY BOY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SIXTY SECONDS, causing that horse to be carried in which resulted in crowding on its inside to FORTUNE BOY which as a result lost its rightful running and was checked. For this breach, Apprentice Tsui was fined $15,000. Also approaching the winning post on the first occasion, FORTUNE BOY was crowded for room inside SIXTY SECONDS. After the 600 Metres, FORTUNE BOY was steadied when crowded for room inside COUNTRY BOY. At the 250 Metres, THOUSAND WINS was hampered after being bumped by PHOENIX FORTUNE which shifted in. Near the 200 Metres, SIXTY SECONDS, which was improving into a narrow run, was checked when crowded for room inside GRAND FIGHTER (Apprentice K H Chan) which shifted in when not properly clear. Having in mind Apprentice Chan's relative inexperience, it was decided on this occasion that he should be severely reprimanded. For the major part of the race, PRINCE GOLF raced wide and without cover. FLYING KENNY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FLYING KENNY after the race did not show any significant findings. FORTUNE BOY, KINGFIELD and GALLANT KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
