Racing Incident Report
FIGHT BACK was withdrawn on 25.6.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter PLENTY OF HEART (S Dye). Before being allowed to race again, FIGHT BACK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PLENTY OF HEART was slow to begin and then shortly afterwards lost further ground after becoming unbalanced when bumped by FLASH HARRY which on jumping was carried wider by GALLANT STAR which shifted out. ONLY YOU, which was standing badly, began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall and was then steadied when crowded for room between RED FORTUNE and CHECK MATE which was carried in by MR GENKI. SMART CHAMPION began awkwardly. In the early stages, DANTHEMAN proved difficult to settle and near the 800 Metres got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of AFRICAN FOREST. When questioned regarding the poor performance of MR GENKI, F Coetzee said when the horse was successful at its last start it was able to obtain an uncontested lead. He said today from the outside barrier despite being ridden along in an attempt to gain the lead, the horse did not show sufficient speed and consequently was obliged to race three wide outside the leader. He said as a consequence of covering this additional ground MR GENKI after the 300 Metres gave ground. ONLY YOU was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ONLY YOU after the race did not show any significant findings. MR GENKI, PLENTY OF HEART and CLASSIC HORSE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that UNIVERSAL PIONEER had lost its left front plate and was making an abnormal breathing noise which indicated the horse had a probable soft palate displacement. However, he said an endoscopic examination showed no significant findings. Also after the race, it was reported that FLASH HARRY had lost its right front plate. Following the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on PLENTY OF HEART at the request of Mr C S Shum, trainer of the horse. The Veterinary Officer reported this examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PLENTY OF HEART will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
