Racing Incident Report
SOUTH CHINA NINETY was withdrawn on 7.6.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter STRAWBERRY KISSES (R Fradd). Before being allowed to race again, SOUTH CHINA NINETY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GRASS HOPPER, which was fractious in the barriers, dwelt as the gates opened and was slow to jump, consequently got well back. TRUST ME blundered at the start. MAGNIFICENT HORSE was slow to begin. LUCKY SPECIAL began awkwardly. For some distance after the 900 Metres, STRAWBERRY KISSES got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of TRUST ME. Near the 800 Metres, LUCKY SPECIAL became unbalanced when being shifted in behind SUPERB to obtain cover. Near the 700 Metres, CROISSANT and STRAWBERRY KISSES bumped, resulting in STRAWBERRY KISSES shifting in and momentarily crowding the racing room of A-TACK. At the 600 Metres, CROISSANT raced tight between HK ISLAND VICTORY and STRAWBERRY KISSES which at this time shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of HEALTHY which itself raced tight inside TRUST ME. A-TACK, which was following STRAWBERRY KISSES, was steadied off the heels of that horse as a consequence. Close to the finishing line, SUPER LUCK was steadied off the heels of STRAWBERRY KISSES. In the Straight, SUPERB hung out. HK ISLAND VICTORY and SUPERB raced wide and without cover throughout. When questioned, O Doleuze (TRUST ME) said he had been instructed by Mr P F Yiu, trainer of the horse, that if TRUST ME began well he should endeavour to lead. O Doleuze added when TRUST ME began best he then rode his mount in such a fashion as to comply with his instructions. HK ISLAND VICTORY and LUCKY SPECIAL were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HK ISLAND VICTORY and LUCKY SPECIAL after the race did not show any significant findings. GRASS HOPPER, TRUST ME and HEALTHY were sent for sampling.
