Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, the tongue tie fitted to ASIA STAR was replaced. FIRST KNIGHT began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped DYNAMIC COMBO. LUCKY PACKET, which was standing with its head up, began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. On jumping, MILLION SUCCESS got its head up and lost ground. Near the 800 Metres, ELVIS was steadied when crowded for room inside GREAT KID (Apprentice H W Lai) which after having been cleared by WYNDAM PLENTY shifted towards the inside of that horse. Apprentice Lai was told to exercise care. When ELVIS was steadied, crowding was caused on its inside to NICKU NICKU which as a result lost its position. After the 800 Metres, MAIN ATTRACTION became unbalanced after being crowded for room inside ASIA STAR which shifted in momentarily. At the 600 Metres, LUCKY PACKET was steadied away from the heels of KING OF SPADES which shifted to the outside of MAIN ATTRACTION. In the early part of the Straight, DYNAMIC COMBO had difficulty obtaining clear running and after the 300 Metres was steadied when unable to improve between ELVIS and GREAT KID. At the 300 Metres, MILLION SUCCESS was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of WYNDAM PLENTY which was giving ground. Over the concluding stages, KING OF SPADES hung in and proved difficult to ride. R Fradd (MAIN ATTRACTION) reported after being crowded for room near the 800 Metres the horse dropped the bit and was reluctant to hold its position despite being hard ridden. He said in the Straight MAIN ATTRACTION continued to give ground. MAIN ATTRACTION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MAIN ATTRACTION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The performance of MAIN ATTRACTION, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MAIN ATTRACTION will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ELVIS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, ELVIS was examined by the Veterinary Officer.
