Racing Incident Report
While in the Parade Ring, DAY OR NIGHT kicked out and made heavy contact with a rail. After arriving at the Start, DAY OR NIGHT was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. BEAR DOMINANCE, which was leaning against the outside of its barrier, was slow to begin. CYPRESS HILL, which had been intended to be ridden in a forward position, began awkwardly, got its head up, lost ground and then despite being ridden along raced well back. Near the 1600 Metres, MEATH was steadied away from the heels of NORTHERNER which was carried in slightly by DR WELL after having improved inside the heels of that runner. Near the winning post on the first occasion, CYPRESS HILL was steadied away from the heels of MEATH. Near the 400 Metres, DAY OR NIGHT was steadied when awkwardly placed between DR WELL which was commencing to give ground and NORTHERNER which was ridden along to improve close to the heels of LUCKSWELL and was then shifted out. No action was taken. S Dye (COME SEE YOU) reported after passing the winning post on the first occasion the horse was not travelling well, he rode it along for a short distance, however, COME SEE YOU commenced to make a significant breathing noise. He said he continued to ride COME SEE YOU along until near the 1000 Metres, however, the horse gave ground and he looked down to ensure it had not bled. He said because of the noise COME SEE YOU had been making, he eased the horse out of the race. COME SEE YOU was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of COME SEE YOU after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being permitted to race again, COME SEE YOU will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A Delpech (DR WELL) explained while the horse does have some wet track form, at no stage of tonight's race did it travel comfortably. He said making the Home Turn and shortly after straightening DR WELL faltered and then shortly afterwards commenced to give ground. DR WELL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DR WELL after the race did not show any significant findings. NORTHERNER and CALIFORNIASUNSHINE were sent for sampling.
